BIOGRAPHICAL
SKETCH FOR NAREN VYAVAHARE.
Dr. Naren Vyavahare is Hunter endowed Chair and professor in the
Department of Bioengineering at Clemson
University. He is also
director of Cardiovascular Implant Research Laboratory at Clemson University.
He is serving as a Chair for cardiovascular biomaterials special interest group
in the Society for Biomaterials. His research has focused on cardiovascular pathology
and implants for last 15 years, and he has published more than 100 scientific
articles in this area. He recently received McQueen Quattlebaum
faculty achievement award for exemplary leadership in the engineering
profession from College of Engineering and Science, Clemson University.
Dr. Vyavahare received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry in 1985
and Ph.D. degree in biomaterials in 1990 from Pune University, India.
He received further post-doctoral training at Rutgers University
and University of Michigan Medical School. Before coming to Clemson, he held
faculty positions at University of Michigan Medical School, (1995-1997), and
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1997-1999). In 1999, Dr.
Vyavahare joined Clemson
University as an
Assistant Professor.
Research in his laboratory is sponsored by National American Heart
Association and National Institute of Health.
