WORKING EXPERIENCE

·         Working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (2004-till date), CREC (www.crec.ifas.ufl.edu), University of Florida, USA.

Current Research: My research aims to map, evaluate and genetically improve Citrus germplasms using advanced molecular and bioinformatic tools.

·         Worked as a Research Associate (2001-2004), GKVK (http://uasbng.kar.nic.in/default.asp), Bangalore, India.

·         Worked as a Senior Research Fellow (1998-2001), GKVK, Bangalore, India.

·         Worked as a Research Assistant (1996-1998), GKVK, Bangalore, India.

·         Worked as a Chemist in Karnataka Breweries and Distilleries Pvt. Ltd., (1993-1994), Bangalore, India.

My work at GKVK has contributed significantly to the understanding of, (A) The impacts of human disturbance on the genetic diversity of non-timber forest species, (B) Mapping the genetic diversity ‘hot-spots’ for germplasm collection in medicinal & economically important tree species, (C) Effect of fragmentation on the population structure & genetic diversity of forest species, (D) The role of protected areas in conserving the genetic diversity of economically important forest tree species & (E) Identification & charecterization of bioactive compounds in forest plants. The outcome of these studies, prehaps the first of their kind in the Western Ghats (one of the mega diversity hot-spt in the world), have important implications for future conservation & management of various forest genetic resources.
